For my latest project, I had the opportunity to work on upgrading the Siemens Substation Automation System in Paiton Unit 3, located in East Java. The objective of this upgrade was to modernize the existing substation infrastructure and optimize its operations.
This is my documentation while surveying onsite Paiton Unit 3, East Java (2019). Within this site work, I was also involved with implementing the Automatic Generation Control Test between DCS Paiton Unit-3 and Java Control Center. It is part of my journey on a substation automation system project.
After the survey and preparation for the outage (about 1 year of preparation), The Upgrading Project of the Substation Automation System finally finished in September 2021. Thank you to everyone who has been involved with great teamwork during the commissioning test.
Throughout the project, I worked closely with a skilled team of engineers and technicians to ensure a seamless transition from the older system to the upgraded Siemens Substation Automation System. We carried out extensive testing, configuration, and calibration to ensure the new system met the specific requirements of Paiton Unit 3.
During the commissioning phase, we meticulously analyzed the performance of the automation system, ensuring its reliability and accuracy in controlling and monitoring various substation components. This included the protection devices, transformers, circuit breakers, and other critical equipment.
Furthermore, troubleshooting was a crucial aspect of my responsibilities. I conducted thorough investigations and identified potential issues or malfunctions in the system. Through diligent analysis and troubleshooting techniques, we successfully resolved any challenges that arose, ensuring the substation’s uninterrupted operations.
Overall, this experience allowed me to gain invaluable insights into the intricate workings of Substation Automation System projects. The combination of commissioning and troubleshooting skills was instrumental in delivering a successful upgrade to the Siemens Substation Automation System in Paiton Unit 3.
